Native American Lands
Abstract: This data layer is a polygon shapefile of the 1998 Native American-owned lands in Wisconsin derived from the 1998 TIGER line files. It is referenced to the Wisconsin Transverse Mercator (WTM) projection system, North American Datum 1983, with the 1991 adjustment (NAD83/91).
Purpose Description: This data layer is for use in generalized mapping applications. The level of accuracy does not support detailed local analysis. The data layer is intended for use with GIS software.
Access Constraints: None
Use Constraints: For use at scales no larger than 100,000.
Currentness Reference: Publication date of source data
Geographic Extent: Statewide
Native Data Environment: ArcView version 3.2
Maintenance Update Frequency: None planned
Progress Type: Complete
Date: 2000
Process Step Description: 1998 TIGER line files were unpacked using a program called, TIGER2Shape. The resulting shapefiles were converted into Arc/Info coverages for further processing, using Arc/Info 7.1.2 on an NT platform. The coverage was projected from its native geographic coordinate space (decimal degree), NAD83 into WTM83/91. The coverage was also converted back into a shapefile at that time.
